SAFARI-STYLE TENTED ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation at Mavela Game Lodge is in five luxury, en suite safari-style tents. Each room has a private deck with beautiful views over the surrounding bushveld.
ALL INCLUSIVE MEALS & DRINKS
Early morning coffee and rusks (pre-drive), full English and continental breakfast, Light lunch (pre afternoon drive) and a 3-course dinner. All drinks including good quality wines.
LOCATION
We are located in the 23,000 hectare Manyoni Private Game Reserve, in the Mkuze Valley Lowveld in Northern KwaZulu-Natal.
BIG 5 & WILDLIFE
The Reserve is home to over 70 mammal species including Cheetah, Wild Dog, Hyena, Giraffe, Kudu, Nyala, Wildebeest, Zebra and the Big 5 (Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Elephant & Rhino).
BIRD WATCHING
The game reserve is renowned for its exceptional birding opportunities with over 420 bird species recorded on the property.
LODGE
The Lodge comprises of an open-plan, two story thatched welcome area with a lounge, bar and dining facilities leading out to the pool and wooden veranda.
Safari-Style Tented Accommodation
Get closer to the outdoors in style
Accommodation is in seven, luxury, safari-style tents with en suite shower facilities and a private deck with beautiful views over the surrounding bushveld. With comfortable deck chairs and a birdbath in front of each tent, birding enthusiasts can enjoy the bird life with ease from their rooms. Crisp white linen is used on either king or single beds, the tents are tastefully decorated complete with aircons, standing fans and luxurious Charlotte Rhys amenities. The camp is unfenced and guests are escorted back to their rooms after dinner. Mavela Game Lodge offers an intimate safari lodge experience in a unique part of the African bush.

We had an unforgettable experience at Mavela Lodge. I've traveled all over Africa for birding and mammalwatching and Mavela definitely ranks as one of the best. In addition to this the staff, the service and the food was top quality. I love the fact that the property is unfenced. We had Lions right in front of, I've never experienced anything like it, awesome! I will definitely come back and I can highly recommend Mavela!
Fantastic few days here. Tent was great and situated in a great location. The manager, Dan, went out of his way to make our stay wonderful. All staff were great with a special mention for Theo our game driver whose knowledge about everything was awesome. We also met the owner, his wife and their friends who all made us very welcome. We even saw all big 5 on one drive!
We enjoyed our stay very much, in particular the game drives. Moreover, the food was excellent and the staff was always very friendly and helpful. If we come again to South Africa, we will definitely stay again at Mavela Lodge.
With only 5 tents your stay at Mavela will be intimate with exceptional friendly service, knowledgable guides, and up close encounters with wildlife. I will treasure this bush experience for years to come!
